The tradeoffs are honest ones, it's not the fastest node (1,191ms p50, third of six), the price is mid-tier at $0.63/1k against dataimpulse's $0.15, the $2/GB headline hides behind a 1,000GB minimum, and the 3-day/100MB trial died before I hit c4, forcing me to buy the 3GB/$11.25 plan. That's the insight that keeps me recommending it: pool size is marketing, exit-node quality is what matters.
Where it earned its keep for me personally: Google SERPs. Checking Google has become a nightmare for most pools, and Decodo's was the only one that slipped through now and then while the rest failed outright. Best of the lot, not bulletproof. The interesting question, whether best-of-the-lot is good enough, I'll keep answering as I test, and update this review as the SERP data lands.

This isn't just better performance, it's a design philosophy: reliability over speed. I used to think that meant slow nodes. I was wrong.
Then there's the pool-reputation story. Decodo (94 ASNs, 43 countries) clears zillow at 73% while oxylabs, webshare, and byteful get exactly 0%, same browser tier, same sites. The flip side: target got cleared by every provider in my tests, so Decodo's 79% there is the pack, not a win. The latency that doesn't flinch
The one number I won't forget isn't the speed, it's the flat line. Decodo's median latency is 1,191ms, third of the six (byteful at 961ms and oxylabs at 1,180ms are faster). Not the fastest node in the market. But ramp it from c1 to c8 and p50 barely moves.

Compare shifter under the same load: p50 jumps roughly 600ms from c1 to c8. That's the difference between a gateway that's engineered and one that's just big. Why does a flat line matter more than a fast one? Because stability is the foundation, not the feature. My coupon system runs one full crawl per day across 15+ sites on WordPress, Cloudflare-static, and FastAPI. A 100ms spike across 100 sessions cascades into missed updates and retry logic stacked on retry logic. At my 2-5M scrapes a month, the p95 tail (2,394ms, max 4,378ms) is real but predictable, and predictable is what I can plan around.
The honest tradeoff: you pay in money or you pay in time. Decodo at 1,191ms and $0.63/1k; dataimpulse at 2,114ms and $0.15/1k, 1.8x slower, 4x cheaper. For speed-sensitive work, Decodo's stability earns its premium. For budget-first volume, dataimpulse's latency is the price you accept.
The dashboard that doesn't make you guess
I've used dashboards that look pretty but hide cost traps or make onboarding a maze. Decodo's isn't one of them. It's one of the cleanest proxy dashboards I've used, and it's a full dashboard, not just a port listing: residential, mobile, static, datacenter, site unblocker, and free proxies all live in the same clean layout, with usage stats on top.
The details are where it wins. When I needed to plug into a Python script for the probe run, the endpoint generator handed me the full curl command, the username and password, and the protocol options (HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5) in one glance, no copy-paste hunting across docs. The rotating vs. sticky toggle is front and center; sticky runs 10, 30, or 60 minutes or a custom duration, set in a few clicks, not buried in API docs.
Onboarding is honest too. Free proxies need KYC, but the moment you pay, residential activates instantly. The KYC ask only comes up for blocked site groups like Netflix, Uber, or Grammarly, and all my tests ran fine without submitting it. That's rare transparency from a proxy company.
The "Have An Idea" section is the standout, pre-built scraping templates with customized browsers, JS fingerprinting, and premium proxies for SERP checks, YouTube content, and Amazon products. The support bot that actually helped
The support bot is named Codette, and it's almost as good as webshare's Webby, the best chatbot I've tested in this niche. That's high praise, because most proxy bots fail even at basic questions. Oxylabs' Otty hallucinated when I asked how to regenerate a residential proxy password. Codette answers almost instantly, even complex questions about their own services.
The test that won me over: SERP tracking setup, the kind of question that usually gets a generic FAQ link. SERP tracking: not perfect, but the least broken
I haven't run dedicated SERP tests yet, no benchmark data, no formal metrics. I'll update this section when the SERP benchmark lands. But my ongoing SERP exploration for the AI visibility tool has shown something rare: Decodo pools got through now and then when every other provider I tested failed big time. Checking Google has become a nightmare for most proxies, Decodo's pool is the best of the lot, not bulletproof, but the least broken I've found.
The product is clearly built for this use case. The dashboard's pre-built SERP templates and Codette's ability to answer real SERP configuration questions are both there. The API that automates the grind
The Web Scraping API is the centerpiece of Decodo's offer, like most proxy companies in 2026, they push it harder than the raw ports. I haven't benchmarked it yet, so I won't quote numbers on it. The 76.9% success and 1,191ms figures in this review are from the residential proxy probe, not the API, different product, and I'll say so when I've actually run it.
What's really there, from reading the docs and watching how the product is shaped: Site Unblocker sits alongside the standard proxy types for getting past blocks. Fast Search API covers the lighter jobs, finding a product or concept name on a page, and it's the feature the scraping community on Reddit actually discusses. And the pre-built templates are the interesting part: customized browsers, JS fingerprinting, and premium proxies pre-configured for SERP checks, YouTube content, and Amazon products. Not generic configs, templates tailored to each target's anti-bot profile.
Decodo's marketing says the API handles CAPTCHAs, IP bans, and JavaScript rendering, with an AI Parser for large-scale pipelines. Fine on paper. My rule: I only trust a scraping product after it survives my own targets.
The IP quality that matters
In the pool drain test I ran 150 requests and got 150 unique IPs, 100% rotation, no repeat in the entire run. That's the hygiene I need at 2-5M scrapes a month: fresh IPs, no fingerprinting build-up across sessions. The pool spans 43 countries, 94 ASNs, and 122 cities, solid, not elite, shifter has 117 ASNs and oxylabs 102, both ahead. Geo-routing is where it shines. The US gateway delivered 98% US egress match and the UK gateway hit 100%, the geo-tag is actually respected. But the default global pool is not US-heavy: France leads at 14%, then Italy 10%, Iraq 8%, UAE 8%.

The economics are mid-tier and not the selling point. The real entry is 3GB for $11.25, or $4/GB pay-as-you-go, that works out to $0.63 per 1k requests. It's also data-hungry, 171 MB per 1k requests, the highest in the market tied with shifter, so data-heavy scraping costs more than the per-GB sticker suggests. No refunds, and unused bandwidth may not carry forward. The free trial? 3 days, 100MB, it died before I even hit c4 concurrency.

- Shifter: $0.33/1k and the most diverse pool (117 ASNs), but the worst reliability I measured, 4.5% timeouts and a 2,402ms p50. Only if you can babysit runs.
- Webshare: $0.51/1k, 1,242ms p50, fastest European gateways, best support bot. Budget speed without dataimpulse's c16.
- Oxylabs: $0.86/1k, same success tier, premium price without a success premium.
What's still untested
